The Payments Corner publishes editorial analysis under a defined set of editorial standards. This page documents them so readers, subjects of coverage, and collaborators know what to expect.
Voice and tone
TPC is written in an operator-level, analytical, dispassionate register. The reference points are the Financial Times and Stratechery — not a startup blog. Coverage is third-person; the publication does not address the reader as "you" outside of explicit calls to action (subscribe, contact). Domain-precise vocabulary (FedNow, RTP, PIX, real-time rails) is dropped without explainers — readers are assumed senior.
Scope of coverage
TPC covers:
- Payments infrastructure (rails, settlement, processing, modernization)
- Embedded finance and platform-issued financial services
- Banking technology and modernization
- AI applied to financial infrastructure
- Modern credit systems (BNPL, embedded credit, community banking)
TPC does not cover consumer fintech reviews, crypto trading speculation, or generic SaaS.
Sourcing
Analysis draws on:
- Public regulatory filings (SEC, Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, CFPB, foreign regulators).
- Company-issued data (earnings reports, press releases, product documentation).
- End-of-day market data from Massive.com (formerly Polygon.io).
- Industry research from organizations like BIS, World Bank, central bank working papers.
- Operator interviews TPC conducts directly with industry participants.
TPC does not act on or publish material non-public information.
Corrections
TPC may revise or correct published analysis as facts develop. Material corrections — factual errors, mischaracterizations, revised positions on significant claims — are flagged within the affected piece with a timestamp. Stylistic edits (typos, phrasing) are not flagged.
If you identify a factual error in TPC coverage, write to editorial@thepaymentscorner.com with the URL and the correction.
Independence
TPC accepts no affiliate commissions, sponsorship, or paid placement. Editorial decisions — what to cover, how to frame it, when to retract — are made by the editorial team alone. No advertiser, partner, or covered company has veto rights or pre-publication review. See the Disclosures page for the full framing.
Anonymity and sources
Where a source requests anonymity, TPC honours it provided the source has direct knowledge of the matter and the reasons for anonymity are documented. TPC does not publish information that cannot be independently verified or that would identify an anonymous source to a reasonable insider.
AI use
TPC uses AI tooling in its production pipeline — voice synthesis (ElevenLabs), video rendering, audio editing, and selective drafting assistance. Editorial judgment, framing, and final approval are always human (Franco Di Pietro). When AI plays a meaningful role in a published artefact, it is disclosed in the piece.
